                       Application Modernization day : Look Software & Asist

Nick Hampson has worked with the system i now for over a decade, initially for a RPG software supplier and for the last 9 years for looksoftware in the modernization space. Nick’s skills are all based around modernization with key skills being in the User Experience and Design areas. Nick presents worldwide for looksoftware on modernization and handles the presales roll for looksoftware for EMEA and the US.

 

Session 1 & 2 – Multi-client and multi-channel modernization of existing System i and z applications – concepts and demonstration

Look software’s SNAP is a series of packaged solutions consisting of looksoftware products and services, that reuses your IBM back-end applications and enables easy plug-and-play style integration with almost any other application including:

• Leading front-ends such as Microsoft's Outlook and SharePoint, IBM's Notes and WebSphere Portal, and portals such as Google.

• SAP, MS Dynamics, Oracle and any web service compliant back-end application.

• New technologies like Unified Communications, mobile devices like the new iPhone3G.

Paul Pilotto is Technical Director and Partner at ASIST. He is a Rational Certified Software Architect and is involved as Architect in different Rational Business Developer projects all over the world. Paul has 26 years of IT background on IBM Mainframe technology but thanks to Rational Business Developer the interests of platforms is broadened to System I, System P and System X.

 

Session 1 – Introduction to IBM’s newest Business Language

In this session the presenter will give an introduction to IBM’s newest Business Language for procedural developers, such as RPG and Cobol Developers, Enterprise Generation Language. This topic will cover the power of Rational Business Developer and will show the different language aspects, possibilities of generation, implementation of Services (SOAP, REST and EGL services) and Web 2.0 development with EGL.

Session 2 – Creating EGL Web Services & JSF Applications

In the second session the presenter will do a demonstration on the use of:

– Creating and consuming Web Services with EGL

– Creating and deploying Web Applications (JSF) with EGL
