WebSphere Development Studio client is IBM's 21st century suite of tools for creating and maintaining applications for the iSeries and the i5. Included in the tool set are components to work with traditional technologies such as RPG and COBOL, as well as components which assist in the integration and creation of applications using Java, Web, XML, etc. What are the pieces included in WDS and how should they be used? This question and more will be reviewed and answered during this session. WebSphere Development Studio for iSeries continues to make the iSeries the best platform for development of any application – traditional or eBusiness.

The Remote System Explorer (RSE) is the component of WDSc that allows a developer to explore application code, and explore file systems on many platforms, including the i5. As well, RSE is the 21st Centure way to create and maintain traditional applications. It replaces the world of PDM, SEU, SDA, etc. Other key benefits include improving programmer productivity and morale, offloading host development workload and allowing existing applications to be maintained more effectively. This session will introduce you to the many powerful features of the Remote System Explorer.
